This past Saturday, my team and I traveled to Peekskill, New York, where we competed in a GEVA 16's Tournament. We arrived as one of the first teams in the gym and were the last team to leave the venue after 9 hours of volleyball. We started the tournament off in pool play where we placed first out of four teams, receiving a bye for the play-off rounds. The next game we played was to determine whether we would play in finals or not. Winning in two sets, every girl on my team played their hardest to make sure that we would get the opportunity to play in the final match.

When it was finally time to play in the finals, everyone on my team was thrilled to see that our hard work had paid off and brought us this far. Dropping the first set of the match, my team and I did not let it interfere with how we were going to play the second set. We all stepped onto the court determined to fight and take the match to a third set. Playing aggressively, we won the second set 25-13. During the third set, my team and I were down 2-8. Even though we were under pressure since it was only a set to 15 and would determine who would win the tournament, we did not let it affect how we played. We continued to play the game that we all knew and at our level which allowed us to win the set 15-11. I am so proud to say that my teammates and I played as hard as we could, and we were rewarded by coming in first place. I strongly believe that my team has grown so much since the beginning of this season, and I am so happy with all that we have accomplished so far.
