Jet Manzi and Ally Karle Make Soph 79 List

Top Sophomores in the Country

Jet Manzi, 5-6 OH/S, Marlboro (New Jersey) – Manzi played every point of every set in 2010 to help lead the Mustangs to their first Shore Conference Class A North Division title (with a 9-1 record) and their second-ever appearance at the state championships, where they reached the quarterfinals before bowing out with a school-best 23-6 record. Manzi had 262 kills, 68 aces and 308 assists and was named First Team All Shore Conference by the Asbury Park Press, First Team All Shore Conference by the Star Ledger, Third Team All State Group 4 by the Star Ledger, and First Team All FRHSD. “You will never find a player that works harder,” said coach John E. Titus III of rival Parsippany High School. “She shows up early, leaves late, and goes to any and every clinic she can in the state to make herself better.”

Ally Karle, 6-1 MB, Mount Olive (New Jersey) – Karle made an instant impact on Mount Olive, becoming the Marauders' offensive leader with 404 kills and 98 blocks. A member of the NJAC American First Team, she also served 79 aces, dug up 89 balls and had eight assists. She set school records for kills in a match (25) and blocks in a season.  “Ally is becoming quickly an unstoppable force in the New Jersey high school volleyball scene,” said head coach John E. Titus III of rival Parsippany High School. “I coached Ally in summer camps at Rutgers University where I learned she is not just a great volleyball player, but also a wonderful kid who truly enjoys playing the game for the right reasons.” Karle was named Third Team All State Group IV and First Team All Morris County.
