Best Finish Of The Season For Team Riot!

The 16 East brought in the Easter week with their best finish of the season in the Princeton Classic on Sunday, April 17th. Coming in 2nd out of 10 teams overall, Team Riot dominated its way through pool play with a 9-1 record; their sole defeat being a tough 25-23 loss to Essex 16 South. It was in this game that the squad demonstrated flashes of their unrelenting resilience, battling till the end despite putting themselves in a six point deficit.

In the first round of playoffs, Riot found themselves in an ironic matchup, facing AVVC's own 16 West. This game would mean not only a berth to the finals, but also bragging rights for both the girls and the coaches. The team quickly found themselves in yet another hole, down by eight with a score of 10-2. Despite the odds however, Riot refused to give up and used their stellar serving and defense to fight their way back into the match. This game too would come down to the wire, as both teams exchanged points back and forth until Riot finally finished the game 25-23 thanks to a well-placed tip.

The finals resulted in a highly anticipated championship game between both pools' #1 seeds, with Riot taking on a scrappy Peak Performance 16's team. Unfortunately, a gold-medal victory was not in the cards for the squad, as they dropped the hard-fought set 25-21. Regardless of the final score, Team Riot proved their tenacity and refusal to surrender. Together, Jenna, Ashley, Brianna, Brooke, Caroline, Catherine, Emily, Erin, Jackie, Toni, Vicky and Marisa completed a day of exciting, competitive, winning and most of all fun volleyball, that will surely lead to more championship matches before the season's end.
