Team Fury starts the 2015 club season in the best possible way by winning the 18 Open New Year's Classic tournament.

In pool play the team had is up and down moments. Trying out various lineups, team Fury won in straight sets to Downstate and Academy but also lost to Rival and CT Juniors. A split match against LI Blaze was enough to earn them a playoff spot. The first playoff match had them facing Rival, which they lost to in pool play. The team took full advantage of the opportunity for redemption and beat Rival (25-19) to advance to a final match against CT Juniors. This match against this perpetual AVVC nemesis was not going to be easy. CT Juniors came in the final with a lot of confidence and were poised to take the trophy home. CT Junior took the first game (21-17). However a spirited team Fury would not be intimidated. They fought back and won the second game (21-19). That set the stage for an epic third game in which no team would break away by more than three points. CT Juniors led the match at midway point 8-7 but team Fury’s offensive power prevailed in the end and won them the game (15-13).

While it is only the first tournament of the season, it is encouraging to see the adaptability and the resilience of team Fury. If this is a sign of what to come team Fury will be a team to watch out for throughout this season.
