Historically one of the toughest qualifiers in the US, our AVVC 17-1 Red team was in for a challenge at Colorado Crossroads.  Seeded 49th out of 64 to start near the bottom of the rankingst, the "Wolfpack" knew they had some work to do and that they did!

With no effect from traveling, our AVVC 17-1 Red team came out firing on day one.  First against Pocatello Elite 17-Liz, the "Wolfpack" won in 2, 25-20, 25-16.  Playing 2 in a row, 17-1 kept rolling along with another 2 set victory against PPVC 17 National, 25-15, 25-15.  With their eyes set on finishing first in pool play, the last match pitted our 17-1 team against NE West My 17's Team.  A tough battle for both squads, but a victory for AVVC 17-1 Red in 3, 24-26, 25-21, 15-10.  First in pool play and staying in the upper bracket!

Day 2 brought on 4 fantastic teams to pool play.  Playing team with larger players did not scare away the "Wolfpack".  In an epic match with Momentum Volleyball 17 Black, with numerous college coaches watching, the level of play was amazing.  Back and forth the match went with the "Wolfpack" winning the first 25-21.  Momentum battled back with 25-18 victory in the second.  In a point for point third set, our AVVC 17-1 Red team prevailed against a tough team, 15-12!  Riding high!

The second match of the pool quickly turned to a low point of the day as 2 of our players were lost to concussions.  Tough to regain composure, our 17-1 Red team dropped to USA South 17 National Purple in 2, 13-25, 15-25.

Down to 7 players and playing with a lot of heart for our fallen players, our 17-1 team knew that the last match was the most important.  A win meant taking first in pool, a loss meant coming in 4th in pool.  This match was crucial.  What a way to step up for all the girls.  In a phenomenal match against Club North Volleyball 17-1 Karen Gates, our 17-1 Red took their volleyball to a new level.  Limiting the play of 2 gigantic middles on the other side by serving tough, the play was fantastic.  One worthy of the gold bracket.  Back and forth it went with our AVVC 17-1 Red team winning the first 25-23, a chance to win in 2 in the second set but losing 24-26, and then an epic 3rd set.  Down early 3-8 at the crossover, the "Wolfpack" never lost faith.  With huge serving runs, 17-1 Red caught right back up to 8-8.  Point for point with extra points, the "Wolfpack" was grinding.  What a finish with our 17-1 Red team prevailing 19-17 in the third!  Gold Bracket here we come!

In the Gold Bracket playoffs, our AVVC 17-1 Red team had an early morning.  WIth a slow going, the "Wolfpack" just couldn't handle the storm of Dynasty 17 Black losing 20-25, 12-25.  What a run in Colorado!  AVVC 17-1 Red finishes 9th overall after starting 49th!
