Last Sunday, 4/21, AVVC 16-White "Riptide" proved they were a force to be reckoned with after making it to the semi-finals at GEVA #2. 

To start the day, Riptide dominated Allegro South keeping the team under 10 points each set. During the second pool play match, they beat a scrappy Alpha Gamma team using smart plays and spot-on serving. Jessi S. and Jess L. both had  8 point service runs in the match. 

In the last pool play match, Riptide defeated GEVA rivals Phoenix 16 Red in an overall team effort. With lights-out defense from Mara, Kaelyn, and Tara, Riptide placed first in pool play without losing a single set!

Riptide continued their winning streak with a sweep over Allegro 16-2 in the first playoff game. This win brought them into the semi-finals versus a very tall and powerful West Windsor 16-1. In the most exciting match of the day, middles Kasey and Margaret were aggressive and successful against some of the tallest girls in the gym. Setter Christina put up perfect balls for our hitters Rachel, Jess, and Jessi to attack while Tara, Mara, and Kaelyn made unbelievable digs. Even though they came up short in the end, Riptide played some of their best volleyball to date! Coaches Findura, Aranjo, Keller and Wu  were very proud!

Riptide impressed everyone in the gym with their exceptional play and determination. Regionals here we come! Go Riptide!
