It feels good to win again!!!

A disappointing tournament in NC was all but forgotten when Inferno showed up at the AVVC 18 Open Invitational in Bloomfield on Sunday.

Starting pool play against what turned out to be our strongest opponent, AVVC 18 Red played their first game against CJVA 18 Black. Winning the first set was just a teaser; the girls seemed to let down their guard. Despite knowing the seriousness of losing to a local rival, they lost the second set, and lost again in the third. The girls were looking lack-luster and not quite awake, and the morning pool wasn't starting out well.

That proved to be the worst of it, because from that point on the fighting (Irish? hmmm) Inferno team took the next two matches in easy two set wins against Apex 18, and ECC 18.

The afternoon playoffs were a different story. Starting out against a consistently strong GEVA rival, DIGS 18's, they fought point for point in an exciting match in the pit.  The sound effects were great as parents and friends cheered them on and their voices were amplified and echoing, only encouraging them to be louder!  This must have had the desired effect, because Inferno fought hard and won a decisive match in 3 sets. (The parents take partial credit.)

The expected battle for first place was now underway against our first opponent of the day, CJVA 18 Black. In a 3 sets nail-biter, Coaches Thony and Samantha brought out some top notch play from their team.  Finally the girls were playing in-system and displaying some great skills. They reached down deep and remembered the FUN-DUH-MENTALS. :-)

Yes, it feels good to win again.
