After about a month off from tournament play, Intensity was more than ready to play in the GEVA tournament in St. James, NY.  Number one seed in the pool, Intensity knew they had to show they deserved to be there, and they showed everyone convincingly, starting off the day with a win against Club Attack 14, 25-6 and 25-20.  The next match Intensity had was against Oxygen 14’s and Intensity pulled out another win in 2, 25-20 and 25-19.  After a long break, Intensity faced Sporttime 14 Black, who was also undefeated in the pool up until that point.  Intensity knew they had to win this match to win the pool, and they beat Sporttime in straight sets.  After pool play, Intensity was the only team that had not lost a set all day, and they wanted to move through the playoffs the same way they ran through pool play.  Their first playoff match was against ECC 14 North, and with the match starting at 4-4 Intensity won 25-8 and 25-18.  Now in the semi-final match, they knew they needed one more win to make it to the finals, which was going to be a nerve-wracking match one set to 25.  Intensity faced NYC Juniors, and in a back and forth tight match, Intensity won 25-21.  The final match is something that Intensity has had its eyes on all season, and they wanted to be called the tournament champions.  Unfortunately, Intensity couldn’t hold on to the momentum that they had all day, falling to CALI 14’s in two straight sets.  Although we didn’t win the whole tournament, we accomplished our mini goal of finally playing in the championship match instead of having to be the work team for it.  Coach Meghan and Coach Bridget are very proud of Intensity for their improvement throughout the season so far and throughout the day on Sunday.  We cannot wait to see what the rest of the season is going to bring for us!!
