The 16 Red team traveled up to Bethel, CT and started their day with a strong win over Downstate 16 Black. With a 2-0 start to the 2013 season, the girls faced their second opponent: Academy 16-1. A close set was lost in the beginning of the match at 23-25, but the team rallied back and fought there way to win another set which brought them to 3-1. 16 Red then faced Essex 16 Black and took care of them in both sets boosting them to a 5-1 set record. After taking their rest, the last and final pool play match was versus Allegro 16 National, where the 16 Red fell short of victory and ended pool play with a 5-3 record going into playoffs as #3.

Once playoffs started, the girls found their energy again, and played Apex 16 Matrix and started the road to championship on the right foot by winning both sets. The semi-final match was the #2 seeded LIVBC 16 Blue. AVVC controlled the pace of the match by winning a back and fourth first set in a win by 2 situation, and set cruise control in the second set and comfortably went into the finals. The last and final match of the day was vs. NYC Juniors 16 N. Offense was swinging for the fences, and put on a show for the crowd with their hitting! The defense also wanted to show that they were in it to win it and made some unbelievable digs as well as more importantly, maintaining a great serve receive throughout the whole tournament which lead us to this point! 16 Red played a very good team and swept both sets to win the tournament! T-Shirts were given as a gift to the tournament champions, and the girls ended their day as well as season on a strong 11-3 record.

Also, a special thank you to our fans (family and friends) that made the trip all the way to Connecticut to watch of great volleyball that was obviously well worth it!
