Ally Karle's high school career ended on Wednesday after Mount Olive lost a tight three-set Group 3 quarterfinal match to Morristown. Despite the loss, she was likely the best player on the court — which is how she spent much of her career.

When she signs her letter of intent on Friday, it will be official — next year she'll be playing for Elon College.

“She makes my job a lot easier. As I told her just a couple minutes ago, this is not an end for her. She’s going to take the next step and she’s going to be a great player for Elon. They’re getting a great player, but even better person.”

Karle has had an impressive career for Mount Olive, amassing 1,030 kills, 436 digs, 275 blocks, and 188 aces. She was disappointed her career ended with a loss, but was happy with how she and the team played.

“I feel like I definitely left everything I had on the court," Karle said. "The outcome is kind of a crummy way to leave high school and leave your season, but our effort and the way we played was nothing we could change."

With her high school career over, her college career is soon to start. She can't wait to get down to North Carolina."

“I love the south. The southern charm got me for every school I visited down there," Karle said. "But Elon just fit. The coaches, the girls, the academics. It was a perfect fit for me. And now that this is officially over, I can kind of take a step forward and move on.”
