14 Regional BOOM takes championship at GEVA 2012 tournament for the 2nd time this season
Boom showed their best performance of the season at the GEVA 2012 tournament on 4/14/12 at Downstate Athletic Center. They started off strong in pool play, first winning in 3 sets to Downstate Mirror 25-20, 13-25, 15-9. After that feat, they went on to play and conquer with ease Downstate Silver 25-20, 25-12. The last team them played in pool play was Apex Wahlah, which they defeated in 2 sets as well, 25-14, 25-2. Boom showed remarkable teamwork throughout the day and improved with each game them played.
They went on to playoffs first seeing NYC Juniors- Orange, Boom defeated them with ease, 25-10, 25-14, and went onto to play Oxygen in the semi-finals. Oxygen seemed to be a very well rounded team and going into the match, the girls knew they would have to work extremely hard if they wanted to move on. They conquered Oxygen in a suspenseful 3 sets, 25-22, 16-25, 15-11. Their win brought them to the finals against Downstate Blue. The first win was almost a loss, but boom kept on fighting ending the first set 26-24. They continued their battle with the same intensity as the first set, which resulted in a victory over Downstate Blue 25-22! Boom was named champions of this GEVA 2012 tournament, which is the second one of the year!!
