In the last ranking tournament for the GEVA 17’s division, our AVVC 17 National team left their mark and solidified their ranking as the top 17’s team out of 62 teams.  At the GEVA 17 Open #2 on 4/15/12, our 17 National team went an impressive 12-0 to capture the tournament title.

Playing at Stony Brook University, the “Knights” swept through their pool with straight set victories over ECC 17 North 25-11, 25-21; CALI 17 Li 25-13, 25-16; Sportime 17 Blue 25-11, 25-20; and Performance 17 Navy 25-20, 25-15.

With a bye in the first round of playoffs, our 17 National team met Downstate 17 Black in the quarterfinals and continued their winning ways with a 25-22, 25-9 victory.  This led to a semifinal match against Sportime 17 Gold.  The “Knights” playing their best ball of the season as of late disposed of their opponent 25-13.  In the finals of the GEVA 17 Open #2, our AVVC 17 National Team faced off once again against AllStarr 17s.  A fierce battled ensued with our “Knights” battling back from a 3 point deficit late in the match to take the championship final 25-23. 

It’s been a great GEVA season for our AVVC 17 National team!  One second place finish and 2 GEVA Open tournament titles for our “Knights”.  Next up GEVA regionals and a chance to obtain the bid to go to Nationals!
