15 National Team TITANS in Gold Bracket at NEQ South and places 9th overall

The 15 National had its best performance this year at a national qualifier by making the gold bracket. The quality volleyball that the 15N has been playing the past two months has been validated at the NEQ South held this Easter weekend at National Harbor in Maryland.

The Titans started the first round of pool play the TITANS against a superior Club Integrity. They played very well but Integrity was even better. They ended up losing the match in close sets (25-27, 20-25). The Titans regrouped in their second match against Sky High 15 White and beat them in convincing fashion 25-18, 25-12.  Their next match versus Coastal Gold was more difficult however the Titans were running on all cylinders and prevail in two sets (25-18, 25-21). That win sealed for them the second place of the pool and a chance to play in the upper half of the tournament on Day #2.

The Titans started the 2nd round against Ocala Power losing 25-11, 25-13. The Titans quickly forgot this defeat and quickly got back on their feet. With excellent hitting, blocking, and serving the titans beat their next opponent, Synergy 15 LV in three sets 16-25, 25-21, 15-9.  That win helped the 15 national team advance to the Gold bracket round for the final day.

NYC Juniors, the GEVA #1 ranked team, would be their 1st opponent in the playoff round.  The Titans started strong, and may have caught NYC with their guards down. Before they realize it the Titans have taken the first set the first set 22-25. NYC as anticipated pushed back hard and won the second set 25-18 forcing a third set. The titans showed a lot of resiliency and firepower in the third sets. The score stayed close the entire game with the TITANS pulling away to a 14-9 lead. However errors and good hitting from the NYC Juniors help NYC prevail and beat the TITANS 16-14.

The 15 National ended up placing 9th (out of 36) overall in the standings at the end of the tournament. With this performance the Titans have carved themselves a place on the top shelf of the 15’s volleyball teams in the region.
