Sonic volleyball a.k.a 17 regional, arrived in D.C. on friday evening of President's Weekend. Then squeezed in the sites on Saturday morning before the afternoon start time. During the tour some sonic players were in disguise..
Sonic volleyball was looking for improvement from their Bronze Division Silver medal at MLK. Although the team placement was not improved, individual improvement found several players. MB Chloe Allen was a serving machine. Her serving pct. in tournament play is in the high 90's..that's outstanding. OH Emma Hanzes is our Passing and Kills leader. And that's been a recurring theme. OH Kim Chmeilewski is not far behind. Kim's hitting helped carry us through a good part of Sunday's play with steady passing as well. Libero Kristen Gallimore's serving came on when it really counted. In fact from late Sunday through Monday's play, Kristen's serv pct. was close to perfect. Setter Wicktoria Staromejska managed the passing best she could to pile up the assists. Opposite/MB Brooke Foley and Opposite/OH Tess Saburn put up a wall with MB's Kiera Kennette and Chloe Allen. Libero Christina Rodriguez and OH Sara D'Antuono led the way with Digs, especially Monday when Christina kept her floor clean. But the standout improvement to date was the play of Setter Melany DeSilva. Melany gets an A+ for her work the entire weekend. All in all, Sonic found many things to build on. Our work continues to refine and polish our teamwork and skills. Progress can be measured at times by what you stop doing as much as what you start doing. Sonic is Rolling and The Boom is building.
