17 National takes 2nd at New Year's Classic!

Atlantic Valley 17 National team came out with a strong second place finish in the Gold bracket at the New Year’s Classic 1/7/2012 at CT Sports Center in Connecticut.   Improving every set played, the 17 National “Knights” had only one blemished set in pool play finishing off with a 7-1 record against Apex 17 Mystics, Alpha Gamma 17 Kaepa, CT Impact 17 Black, Oxygen 17 and a berth into the gold bracket of playoffs.

After a 3 hour layoff, Atlantic Valley 17 National faced off against a strong CT Juniors 17 National team in the first round of the Gold bracket.  Dropping the first set, the “Knights” battled back to win the hard fought match in 3 sets.  Right after their win, our 17 National team jumped right into a semi-final match against AllStarr 17’s.  Taking advantage of some their height, the “Knights” put on an impressive offensive display and showed off their blocking ability.  This resulted in a 2 set victory over AllStarr 17’s and a berth into the New Year’s Classic final versus LIBVC 17 Blue.

Playing their third match in a row and running on fumes and delirium, our 17 National team lost in the Gold finals in 2 sets.   Overall, a great start to the 2012 season for the Atlantic Valley 17 National “Knights”.  Keep working hard ladies!
