PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- Providence College women's volleyball Head Coach Margot Royer-Johnson announced that student-athlete Lindsay Witt (Basking, Ridge, N.J.) has signed a National Letter of Intent to attend Providence College on Thursday, November 17. Witt is the first member of the volleyball team's class of 2016, and will compete for the Friars beginning in the fall of 2012.

"Lindsay will help us fill the vacant slots left by graduation in the middle position. She is tall and quick and has a good knowledge of the game. We are happy she is a Friar!" said Coach Royer-Johnson.

Witt is a 6' 1" middle blocker and plays club ball for the Atlantic Valley Volleyball Club. Witt earned three varsity letters in volleyball while at Ridge High School. In 2010, she was named First-Team All-Conference as well as First Team All-Central. A two-time player of the week, Witt made the "Top 25 Players to Watch" list put together by NJ.com. Witt's team won the conference championship in her junior and senior seasons. Ridge High School was ranked ninth in New Jersey.

An honor roll student in high school, Witt will be entering Providence College as an undeclared major.
