Gray clouds rolled over the Rahway Recreation center on the morning of February 12th. The brick building itself didn’t stand out, especially at 7:30am on a Sunday. The desolate parking lot was lined with snow from a few days ago; however within a few minutes cars began to pull in. By 8am the parking lot was already on it’s way to being completely filled. Most of the town was still under warm covers, but in the building were teams of girls, some who might have gotten up at 6am, excited and preparing for a day of volleyball.
If you would have turned left and gone to the end of the hallway you would have seen 12 fourteen-year-old girls, myself included, ready to go warm up to play the first match of four on Court 1. This is the AVVC 15 White team, at our third tournament of the season. Our first game was against the 15 regional team of CJ Heat. Both teams were already warming up when the referee called for captains. Of course, we won the coin toss
